  • 3D Printing

    With 3D printing, we can customize products that respond more effectively to customers' needs. This approach to production reduces inventory and lowers production costs, enhancing the competitiveness of the entire business. It also helps protect the environment by reducing the use of unnecessary materials.

    LG Chem aims to provide this value by researching 3D printing materials.

    Solution areas:

    • Technology to produce the spherical polymer powder for 3D Printing - SLS, MJF, etc.
    • Technology or additives to optimize the quality of polymer powder - flowability, mechanical properties etc.

  • Eco Friendly

    The volume of food packaging waste surged significantly during the COVID pandemic, which has become an immense challenge for recycling. LG Chem is focusing on developing materials that are recyclable and have excellent barrier properties.

    Demand for diapers is rising due to an aging population and the increase in households with pets. LG Chem hopes to contribute to public health by improving the process and function of super-absorbent materials, the primary material of diapers.

    Solution areas:

    • Technology to improve barrier characteristics of polyolefin for improve recyclability.
    • How to enhance characteristics of SAP? (e.g. Deordorizing materials / Analysis technology to evaluate odor Surface crosslinking technology under low temperature condition to produce SAP)

  • Special Additives & Compatibilizer

    Plastic additives are used during processing and polymerization to facilitate the processing of plastics and synthetic resins and improve the performance of the final product. LG Chem is looking for partners to cooperate on additive research to meet the high performance and eco-friendly characteristics required by new industries such as EVs, secondary cells, and bioplastics.

    Solution areas:

    • Enhancing properties: Heat resistance, Flame retardancy, Anti-scratch property and other mechanical property
    • Compatibilizers to improve the compatibility of various polymers (including polyolefins)
    • Improving mechanical properties and compatibility of bioplastics; PBAT-PLA, PHA, etc.
